Responsive V v1.3.1

V will now respond vocally to being bumped, hit by vehicles, and other world interactions including replying to Johnny while in a vehicle.

This mod is using many of V’s unused voiceset lines and grunts already present in the base game (and often specifically designed for these scenarios), combined with other general reaction lines.

Nexus requirements:

Codeware

redscript

Reaction Scenarios
– Getting Bumped – V reacts when NPCs bump into them, with responses escalating from mild annoyance to aggressive reactions with a middle finger animation
– Hit by Vehicle – When hit by a car, V comments after getting back up and occassionally reacts with the finger
– MaxTac Arrival – V reacts when MaxTac units show up and when Netwatch starts hacking player’s vehicle
– Stealing Vehicles – V comments when stealing cars
– Vehicle About to Explode – V reacts when their vehicle is critically damaged
– Vehicle Destroyed – V comments after their vehicle explodes or is submerged

Johnny’s Commentary – V Now Responds instead of staying mute:
V reacts to Johnny’s remarks as the passenger (ie when Johnny spawns in vehicle) adding some natural back and forth.

Use Mod Settings to disable/enable reactions (optional).

FAQs

– Are the voiceovers available in every language?
Since these are voiceover files already in the base game, they should automatically translate to whichever language you have set much like other quest dialogues.

– How many animations are there?
Just the one – the finger. Originally, I was going to name the mod ‘The Finger’ 🙂 but I realized it can be more general seeing the unused voiceset lines as well as the idea to integrate reactions to Johnny. I may add more animations in the future.

– Will it intefere with gameplay?
No. Dialogs and animations are appropriately disabled during combat, quests, wanted stars, and other gameplay conditions.

– How often is the middle finger shown?
For NPC bumps, the system first decides between a simple grunt or a full voice/animation reaction

Grunts are quick, subtle non-verbal sounds (no animations) with adjustable frequency.

Full VO reactions use an escalation system – the more you bump NPCs (front-facing only), the higher the chance of middle finger:

– First few bumps: 5-15% chance
– After 2-3 bumps: 15-40% chance
– After 6+ bumps: 60-85% chance

The VO frequency setting controls how often you get full reactions vs grunts (Rare=10%, Occasional=25%, Common=40%, Frequent=60%). Default is Occasional (25%)

The exact escalation thresholds depend on your Escalation Speed setting (Patient/Normal/Short Fuse). The default is Normal. This counter resets every 75-90 seconds.

For vehicle hits, the chance depends on your Vehicle Hit Reaction setting:
– Balanced (default): 50% chance

Can be adjusted from 0% (Always Sarcastic) to 100% (Always Aggressive)

You can disable the middle finger animation entirely in Mod Settings for both scenarios while keeping voice reactions.

If you have more ideas, let me know!

Compatibility Note: “Dark Future” mod
– Currently may cause crashes in car with Johnny
