Sexier Ads – Immersive Edition
If you want to get rid of obnoxious vanilla ads, but also have better and somewhat sexier ads—also while retaining immersion—then you probably want to check these out.
WHAT’S DIFFERENT WITH THIS MOD?
In addition to the main adverts, this advert mod replaces just SOME of the posters, SOME of the sky hologram ads, SOME of the miscellaneous ads, etc. You get it. As far as I know, this is the only ad mod that does this as they are a special case and tough to mix and match. More details below if you’re interested, I have a whole section on that.
GOALS OF THE MOD
1. Replacing disgusting ads in vanilla. Abydos, Body Implants, Foreign Body, Giovanni Brizzi, Sasha Devon (3 mouths… wtf lmao), Slaughterhouse, or the Broseph one. They’re fine once and fit the setting but seeing them all the time becomes just grating as they are fairly repulsive. That was actually the main reason why I started making this mod. So I’m mostly replacing disgusting NSFW with sexy NSFW. Disclaimer: I still haven’t managed to work on anything for Bottoms Up that I like, so you’re gonna have to tolerate that one for now. It’s unfortunately a fairly complex animated ad, and I have no inspiration for it right now. I’ll try to think of something.
2. Preserving vanilla immersion. This mod only replaces some of the ads to maintain immersion. To be exact, I replace 29 out of around 100 main adverts in the game, but the main draw is the partial replacement of miscellaneous ads outside of the main ones. You can certainly expect an increase in suggestive ads vs vanilla, but I’ve tried not to break immersion with too many of them. In a dystopian future such as this one, with cosmetic surgery and head-to-toe body replacement/modifications widely and readily available, and knowing that sex sells, there would be an increase in suggestive ads for sure compared to today, especially if body image and looks are as important as they seem to be. I mean, Hanako Arasaka is 78 years old. Everybody would want to look like that at 78, and… it can be sold! Aging without aging… There would obviously be ads for this everywhere. Well, not quite everywhere, hence this mod. Feel free to add or remove main adverts to your liking, even from other mods.
3. Upscaling or optimizing some vanilla ads. It is at my discretion, as it’s far too complicated to do every single one of them. Also, most vanilla ads look perfectly fine as they are.
Note that this isn’t a fix for the horribly lowres ads that pop while you play sometimes. It’s a result of some obscure “failed to load” script falling back to unknown embedded textures in files somewhere. This is a vanilla LOD Environment Mesh issue that I haven’t managed to fix yet. If anyone does find a fix, it will make everyone happy. And no this mod is not a solution to that particular problem.
NSFW WARNING: No ads feature visible genitals, but some are quite explicit in the same way some Vanilla ads are (bare breasts, highly suggestive themes, etc). This is a mature game. Know what to expect. There is no support for the “nudity censored” in-game option in this mod, what you see is what you get. You can preview the ads in the “Images” tab.
INSTALLATION
– Download the files you need, which are .rar files.
– Extract to your Cyberpunk folder so that the .archive file(s) end up in your “Cyberpunk 2077\archive\pc\mod” folder alongside other mods.
– Remove them at any time to uninstall. That simple.
SLAUGHTERHOUSE: I simply mirrored the lion so that the disgusting guy is left out. Then I removed the other assets pertaining to him. So it’s the vanilla ad, but only the lion, that’s why there aren’t any pictures of the ad.
MIX & MATCH
With the individual archives optional download, you can choose which ads you want and which you don’t want by installing only the archives that interest you. I highly recommend doing that since you can also install ads from other mods and easily know which ones will be replaced. Doesn’t apply to posters and other intricacies though, which brings us to.
MORE DETAILS ON POSTERS, BOOKS, FALLBACKS, DECORATIONS, MAGAZINES, NEWSPAPERS, GIANT SKY HOLOGRAMS, AND THE “ads_set_2x4” file
These are read by the game all at once because they’re grouped together in very few files. For instance all movie posters are in one file, all band posters in another, all sky holograms are in another, all misc circular ads in another, etc. You cannot mix and match posters, the skybeam ads, or various other ads between different mods either here on Nexus or elsewhere. They need to be changed all at once.
The other ad replacers (including on other websites) that do replace those, replace ALL of them. So, suddenly your game has sexy girls literally everywhere. Every decoration, every poster, in every room. This is not the objective of this mod so I only replace about 20-30% of the ads on them. Vanilla ads are mostly fine, it’s just the weird outliers we wanna get rid of. For reference there are just over 60 different “main” posters (non-quest) in the game and I edit 25 out of them, and not always with NSFW art.
You’re gonna have to trust me on this one and use my selection as they are. I can’t provide different archive files for them as the game reads them all in one go, and making dozens of alternate versions of these files is just not something I want to do, at least for now. It’d be a massive amount of work. Hopefully you like them. If not, then remove them.
